Twiss Analytical Laboratories Is Growing
In late November Twiss Analytical expanded its facilities in the Twelve Trees Business Park to 5,082 square feet. Personnel changes have also taken place recently with Nancy Parrott being promoted to Laboratory Manager in October. She is responsible for the day to day operation of the lab. Tom Mazairz joined the company in July in the microbiology section and is heading up the expansion into organic chemical testing. Beth Ross came on board in September as a Laboratory Helper.
President, Steve Twiss stated that a larger facility would allow the company to expand into organic chemical testing. This will reduce the turn around time that can be critical in the environmental arena and this will also reduce costs for our clients.
In November the laboratory received accreditation for Oil and Grease/Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) by EPA Method 1664 through the Washington State Department of Ecology. In 2003 the company plans to purchase instrumentation that will tests for volatile and semi-volatile organics.
Twiss Analytical is the only private certified analytical laboratory on the Kitsap Peninsula that is certified by the Department of Health and accredited by the Department of Ecology. The company focuses on testing drinking water and environmental samples for chemical and bacterial contaminants. The lab can be reached at 360-779-5141.
